Growing Up In Care
My Career/Work

Counsellor, Life Coach and Development Trainer

and now a Workplace Bullying Ambassador and Campaigner

I have been a victim of intense bullying, harassment and victimization and knows only too well the devastating effects of workplace bullying, including a diagnosis of PTSD, loosing his home and community resulting in becoming homeless, as well as a variety of different emotions and feelings, which included, self-medicating and alcohol abuse, the complete loss of confidence and self-esteem.

I am an highly resourceful, motivated, and enthusiastic individual with a creative flair for developing and implementing good quality standards, projects and initiatives. I am a supportive and motivating individual with excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills coupled with having a first class, professional customer-focused attitude to work, colleagues, customers, or service users and partner agencies. Equipped with excellent leadership and problem-solving skills and expertise, along with flexibility and great organisational skills and works well under pressure.

I am an experienced and qualified NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care Assessor, a Counsellor, with an extensive background working within social work settings, training and development, as well as community development positions.  I worked in London for many years, working in social work and various training roles, including managing the training and development functions of two local authority fostering services, as well as being an Employability Trainer for a London college and a Project Worker for a leaving care service and more recently working in community development roles.

I am an experienced Project Manager, with expertise in development, assessment and evidence based practices and uses such models, including NLP; CBT and person centred theories and practices.

During my counselling work and social work background I have worked with numerous different client groups. This has included working for a project which counselled survivors of child sexual abuse, Clients living with or affected by HIV/AIDS, those suffering from bereavement and loss, and clients who are gay and/or questioning their sexuality. In addition I have worked with clients who are living with domestic violence and who are suicidal, as well as working with clients relationship and self esteem issues, and those suffering from depression and panic attacks.

I have a proven track record of empowering people to move on with their own personal development and to move past the many barriers that prevent people have the kind of life they want and deserve.   My aim is to empower other people to have a better quality of life and to help and support others to overcome the barriers people experience in their lives. I have a caring and sensitive temperament and offer a non-judgmental, empathic and gentle style of working in line with a person-centred approach.

My 25 years of working in the caring professions has brought me into contact with a vast amount of people suffering from an whole range of personal and practical difficulties and emotions.  As a result of my working profession and my own personal experiences, of living most of my own life in the care system and having to learn for myself the interpersonal skills for adulthood he knows only too well the difficulties many people have

On a personal note, my interests include personal development and reading self-developmental related material, going to the cinema or watching DVD’s and listening to relaxing/easy listening music. As, my name suggests, I have an interest in Dolphins and have swam with them many times and collects Dolphin memorabilia.

Additionally, I enjoy travelling, (when finances allow) and have been to 17 of the USA States, South Africa, Canada and was fortunate to go on Safari, Australia and of course many European Countries.
