Welcome and Introduction.

Dolphins are among the most intelligent, elegant, and captivating mammals on earth.

The bonds between mother dolphins and their calves are very strong, close, and beautiful. Stories have been told of how a mother dolphin, in a highly agitated state, will try to revive her dead calf for hours. Other stories tell how a mother and child, separated by thunderstorms, will find each other days later and have a loving reunion. A mother and calf may swim together, side by side, for many years. Calves might eventually leave their mothers but will probably stay in touch for the rest of their lives.

Young dolphins also form lifelong bonds with other members of mother calf groups and are given lifelong protection. Sometimes a group of mother dolphins will form a half-circle playpen where their "children" can safely play. Dolphins will often "baby-sit" for one another.

The above information is taken from a card I received from a really good friend in Ireland.

I love Dolphins and hope to swim with them one day. My home is surrounded by Dolphin ornaments and pictures.

I am sometimes asked why the fascination with Dolphins. Well the simple answer is that, they are in many respects all that we would like to be.

Dolphins are gentle, playful animals and are good looking, graceful, loyal to others and have a good sense of humour.
